How performance records should be read
A performance record summarizes published setups according to the recorded entry and exit. It should include wins, losses, breakevens and open setups rather than showing only successful trades.
Performance is historical information. It cannot predict the next trade or guarantee that an account will reproduce the same result.
Why account results differ
| Difference | Possible effect |
|---|---|
| Broker pricing | Entry and exit prices can be different. |
| Spread and slippage | The real cost can reduce a win or increase a loss. |
| Timing | A late entry changes both risk and reward. |
| Position size | The same price move can create a very different account result. |
| Skipped trades | Taking only part of a sequence changes the overall record. |
Build a personal risk rule
- Choose a maximum percentage or currency amount per trade.
- Calculate position size from the stop-loss distance.
- Set a maximum daily loss and stop when it is reached.
- Do not raise risk after a losing trade.
- Review a strategy over a meaningful sample rather than one result.
